Who Will Stand With You?

Not a question for tomorrow, but a question you need to ask yourself for today. Who will stand with you? Is that your neighbor, people in your church, or possibly just a few friends?

If you do not have the answer to this one question, I am going to guess that either you think you can do this on your own or you don't think there is really any need to concern yourself with this now. WAKE UP!

Do you have any view of the news and what's happening around you? If you do then you know this is the time, if not past the time you should have this one question answered.

Is there a person or family that you and yours gets along with well? Are they on the same page as you on raising children, religion, and other areas of your life? Maybe it is a group or set of families you want to get together to see how they interact. Now is the time to get a move on it.

If not now, when? Are you like most American's who feel there is nothing to worry about? No country will attack us. True, they would be foolish to do so. What if the attack has been going on for years? What if the attack is not by conventional war methods?

Russia said they would take the United States without firing a single shot? I wonder what they meant by that? Maybe take over from within? Could it be possible? How would we stop it?

Is it too late to stop it if they are already taking over from the inside? Maybe. Do you want to give up and follow some socialist or communist views for you and your children and their children's lives?

I did not think so. How do you find the right persons or person to stand with you when it is time? You start preparing now for the future. Selectively ask some of the people you feel would be the best person/family to stand with you some questions.

What do you think about what is happening in our country? Might be a good lead in, if you are using a stick. But it might not be a bad place to start. You are back in the game and really need to get moving on a plan.

Is it time? Beyond time and the longer you wait for a long term plan, the further behind you get.

Water Is Your Life Blood - Prepare Wisely

I don't think I can talk about this subject enough. If you haven't noticed, this is the third or forth time I have written about Water this year and it may not be the last.

The topic is simple, prepare wisely when it comes to water for your home and water for your escape home, if you have one. If not, maybe it is time to start thinking about one.

Having a supply of water, clean or dirty, could be the difference between surviving or not. When you put your children and others into the formula, that shows who and what you are made of. I actually know a man (well, male) who has his plan of taking off and living on his own and has not prepared for anyone but himself. To me, that is not a man, but more of a mouse.

I have looked at different ways to provide the needed water and have come up with a few solutions:

Solution 1: Purchase Water In Bulk

This is an okay solution for 1 or 2 people at most, but if your family consist of larger numbers of people the cost can really raise.

Solution 2: Install Well

This is a great idea if you are out and away from civilization. I will be doing this soon at the alternative site myself. This is really a no-go solution in the city and suburbs.

Solution 3: Purchase Storage Tanks

While this is a great idea, for long term storage, this might not be a good solution. You can increase the length of time water can sit by adjudication and ensuring that the tank is cleaned and the water that is to be added is the purest possible.

Solution 4: Hybrid: Purchase, Install Well, and Long Term Storage Tanks

Simply put, there is no single alternative that will support a family or group that does not contain portions from each group. I will also add that a great water purification system is number one to this plans success. Both city home and alternative site need to have one installed.

First thing to be done, based on a plan, is to build up 3,7,15, and 30 day plans for water, food, vehicles, education, pets, and medications. How many people and how much water per person. In the plans 3 to 15 day limit water needs for washing clothing. After include it. Don't forget that washing machine waste water can be used on plants as long as you use natural products.

While most people would suggest that you put your filter on once the water reaches the facility of use, I strongly disagree with this train of thought. First off a well is the biggest point of failure of any water system.

At the well is also the point where you can do the most good for long term maintenance. If your water is filtered at this point, the plumbing will have little to damage it from the inside since there is nothing to rub and grind or build up in the pipes.

Please don't get me wrong, you can do it in multiple stages and provide fresh clean water from you well through a water filtration system at the pump, then polish and UV it once it reaches each house location on the property. Location means structure that requires water.

Final Thoughts

In todays troubled times there are those that are spending their life savings on preparing for the worse. And for these people, it is a valid concern. With all the turmoil and strife going on in politics and our national government, it is easy to get caught up in the fray.

Please think before you act. This is a world where there is room for every faction. If it is not right for you where you are, you have a unique option that most of those in the world don't have. You can move. Keep smiling and sing a prayer as you work. Does wonders for you heart.

Top Three "Survival In America" Advertisers

I want to introduce you to what feel can be the most important advertisement you can see online. I know that when I am working outside in the heat of the day, it is such a pain to come inside and find a comfortable place to land this huge body of mine.

 

Think back to the 60's and 70's and what was the most comfortable thing you can remember sitting in. Yes, you know exactly what it is. Visit Sumo Lounge for some amazing bean bag furniture that us big and burly men can just fall into and wake up a few minutes or hours later feeling the pain of the day, cause we too old to be doing all this hard work.

Now a question that is asked more often by advertisers or readers. What is the way I pick advertisers that I do for all of the sites? For some reason Survival in America is the one most asked about. This one is easy to answer.

Weegie Board! Okay, just joking. There are actually eleven possible advertisers for each page. The Premier - Company we believe will benefit the new Survivalist the most. On the Sumo Lounge, I am dead serious that this product belongs as a Premium until someone comes along and knocks it down to General.

In all seriousness, having quality products that are easy to maintain, don't take up a lot of room in a small cabin or what ever type of dwelling you are living out your survival life in. I don't personally want to sit in my roller desk chair for those years. I want comfort to watch my DVD & Blu-ray Collection and mess with the kids or grand-kids.

In years to come when we have come back from extension through our wars with Giant Ants, Rats, Roaches and Space Villains, I want it said, "Man, those guys back in 2013 really knew how to live. See Gramps on that Cool Looking bean bag." A quiet sniffle as a tear wells up.

Loose Lips Sink Readiness

A little off topic, and one that won't sink readiness. We want to welcome "Emergency Essentials" as the Premier Advertiser on Survival In America. They provide great products from books, emergency kits, and general all around survival tools. We hope you will give them a look see as you prepare for any event.

This week we are talking about Loose Lips Sink Readiness. While some of us are very proud of what we are creating in our homes and other locations. The biggest thing we brag about is how our family is going to be able to survive anything that comes.

In an emergency, remember those that you bragged to? They are knocking at your door. They are going to be wanting what you have and will get it one way or the other. Our wonderful suburbia home won't withstand the assault, and neither will you.

While it is good to be prepared and to give talks at the local library on being prepared. What happens when it is you these folks who did not prepare are coming after. I know this is not a popular thing to say, but here it comes.

Shut Up or Put Up. I don't want to sound uncaring or what ever it is you want to think about me for this topic. If you are prepared and talking about it, others are going to be beating a path to your door once things start hitting the fan.

Are you proud of your cabin you built with all the emergency supplies that only you are suppose to know about, except for the 15 builders that were there, the 20 neighbor kids and parents you bragged to, and the delivery persons who unloaded all the supplies at the cabin.

If you are going to build something, find one or two families and work together to build what you 3 will need and build it RIGHT. In an upcoming article I am going to talk to you about finding that perfect place to prepare to.

If your family's survival is of the utmost importance to you. Shut your trap and smile when folks are talking. Tell them to take a look at this nuts site about Survival in America. Maybe that will put them where they need to go.

All joking aside. This is not a game. This is REAL LIFE. You are also playing with real lives, that of your family. Never underestimate the will of survival when you open your mouth to brag to the neighbors next time. Maybe your wife is right, as far as the neighbors know. We don't need a stinking emergency plan except to get home. But make sure your wife and kids understand the importance of keeping this inside of your immediate family. Sorry daughter, not even to your boyfriend.

How To Improve Your Water At Home, Rental, or Work

Water is becoming the next Oil. People around the world are buying rights to rich water areas. Are these going to be sold off a drink at a time? We need regulations at the State level to control this phenomenon.

As a home owner, renter, or landlord, what can I do to have pure water in the home? This is critical. Pure water extends the lifetime of your water infrastructure. (sinks, pipes, showers, water heater, washing machine, steam dryers, and dishwasher)

Who do we recommend? Easy

Solutions By: Three J Keeton Consulting & Productions

I am going to be showing four solutions, each is different with different tools and infrastructure to make these work efficiently. NOTICE: I am not a plumber or engineer, I am providing you with a starting place for you with your licensed plumber.

Renter's Solution

As a renter, most of the time your hands are bound on what you are allowed to do. Sometimes the best and simplest approach can also be the most difficult to implement. This is what is needed in a kitchen.

There are three configurations.

#1 - one under the counter shown in the drawing, can be mounted on a piece of wood and placed in the space under the sink area. You must find a 110vac plug-in tankless point-of-use water heater, which seems to be difficult now days.

#2 - place above sink units in kitchen and bathroom plus getting filtered shower heads for each of your showers. This will provide filtered drinking water at each sink in your rental.

#3 - Find a plumber that will come in and put in a full unit with the promise to come take it out when you move out will making it so that the landlord had no idea. This is a quick way to get whole rental filtered water system with the knowledge that when you leave, it is coming with you. This will only work if you have access to where your water comes in after the meter. A licensed plumber should know how to verify this.

Home Owner Solution

While some Licensed Plumbers might love me for what I am going to say here, a majority will not share that sentiment. There is only one recommended configuration:

• If building new, have them install in garage a whole house water loop. Yes, including every line in the house. Water comes in to the house, goes to the Loop then to the destinations. Only plum for cold water to all sinks and laundry room.
• Kitchen, Laundry Room (for washer & Steam Dryers), and Bathrooms (Sinks ONLY) - Point of Use Systems Installed
• While many are clamoring that it is not green to use electricity, I still believe that having an all electric home is the best way to go, with the exception of the stove. That being said, there needs to be a location near every bathroom to install a higher end point-of-use electric tankless hot water heater.
  
  Think of it this way. If you have a goal of getting off the grid, even in town, you can not depend on gas. Plus many homeowner associations and cities will not allow you to have a tank in your back yard. It is 3 to 5 extra solar panels to have your electric tankless water heaters. Big point, when you turn off the shower, the electricity stops running.
• Since I stated that the Stove is where I would put gas, I would suggest that you have it setup so that you could quickly change out the stove in a long term emergency. This can be an inexpensive one or a glass top model.
• Do not include the outside bib's in whole house loop. I say this because some builders will do so to piss you off. Also plum a connection for your water sprinklers/drips inside of your garage if possible.

I have over 30 years building sites for data centers and understand the need for emergency preparedness.

I know that this sounds like a lot of work, and let me tell you, it can be. I also understand what it is to move into a fixer upper or have to retrofit your home. We can discuss any need that you have and if it requires an onsite visit that can be arraigned.

Landlord Solution

Landlords have normally taken a property that was on sell as a fixer upper and done as little as possible to bring up the home to be rented out. While in to days market getting lower cost houses is easy, and for less than $10k to $20k they can have a house ready to rent.

I believe that a good house will get good renters who will pay a premium for a good rental home that keeps their cost low on electric and gas, is easy to maintain, and have pure water. If it is in a good location, that is a bonus. I could type out all the fancy things that you could do. For this article it is not a benefit to do so. I will be doing that in a new Micro Series that will start this summer.

For Traveling

Many of us have spent most of our adult life on the road traveling from city to city for our jobs. We spend so much money on purified or spring water that we could have more money in our pocket if we could purify water on the road. I recommend getting an H2oLabs Water Systems and put it in your checked luggage. They traveled well for me. I had a few empty water bottles I added to my checked bag that you can fill up and take it with you for your day.

One of the ladies that I worked with had her upper part of her checked bag setup with foam so that it had a place and it did not get damaged. It did not for the 5 years I knew her. She finally changed it out for a new one that was lighter from H2oLabs Labs.

The next area we are looking for a Premium Advertising Partner is in the area of LED Grow Lights. While there are a good number of these out here on the market, finding one I would buy from is not that easy. LED Grow Lights are a smaller foot print and lower wattage system so you do not have a growth of electricity or a bigger heat signature. Just what a person or family might just need when trying to survive an emergency.

FYI - 250W and above show up as hot spots with thermal imaging. The desired amount of heat in a 3x3 foot area is 90watts of power. If this is in a bedroom closet, having a 100watt bulb is not out of line so a 90watt LED Grow Light will not draw much suspension. With the newer LED Systems that dissipate generated heat quicker so that even a 150w LED panel still looks like a energy of a 100watt bulb, easily found in a closet.

I personally recommend LED Lighting and have started a search for a Premium partner that can meet the requirements of our readers and our company. If our advertisers are not great on customer service and don't carry the best of the best at a reasonable cost, we do not have them as a Advertiser

As many growers will tell you, it is a learn as you grow environment, especially when you are trying to build simple and effective equipment that works and does what you say it will with support when you are a bit confused. Yes, designed just for me.

Water, Water Everywhere...... Thirsty?

One of, if not the most plentiful of the resources on our planet costs almost as much as a gallon of gas. With some brands it actually cost more. So why are we willing to pay for a commodity that should be basically free?

Flavor, Taste, Safety, and Purity are the top four. Every city has old infrastructure that needs to be replaced, which adds flavor and minerals to the water. Some districts, like here in San Antonio, take out some of the hardness but add chlorine and florid to the water. There are many of us that don't want things added. It should be nothing but pure water that comes to the house. That is what it used to be, or maybe that is what we believed we were getting. They can no longer do that because we are aware in some instances. So why?

Cost of operations continually goes up and when looking at it from a city level they are receiving only $.0055 to $.0092 per gallon. So why is fresh water so expensive?

Water companies take municipal water just like we do and run it through a basic filter either bottle that, set up near a fresh stream and bottle that as fresh spring water, or distill their water. Some are even adding minerals to their water because they think we are lacking them. Isn't that our decision?

When Municipal water is a penny or less per gallon, I can provide my own water system at home and be safer and cleaner than the city. So why can't the city improve the infrastructure? Cost. They can not raise the water to you because you will balkat the higher rates. To make needed improvements cities have to get bond money and build/rebuild the infrastructure constantly. Instead of using something that is a long term solution, they keep patching the same things over and over.

My advice is to find out where your water is coming from and what the municipality is doing to the water, i.e. adding to it and taking out. If you are eating correctly you are already getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs, IF, it is getting the best pure water.
